Anglo-Catholicism was the invention of Queen Elizibeth I of the Church of England. Anglo-Catholicism emphasizes a `middle way` whereby reason and common sense are given equal weight with doctine and Church authority. The movement led to a divergence between `high` church and `low` church. Anglo-Catholicism represents to some degree a return to Catholic customs and an avoidance of the `Protestant` concept, but does not accept the infallibility of the Pope.
