The Middle East Council of Churches is a meeting place for the indigenous churches of the region, a facilitator of their common response to common needs. It encourages and supports relationships between its member churches in an ecclesiastically sensitive manner, adhering to the historical confessions of the united Church, the Apostles’, and Nicene Creeds, to which all its members subscribe. It emphasizes consensus and participation in the community. All members are entitled to equal opportunity to have their voices heard in the Council’s deliberations, and no one perspective is permitted to eclipse any other. The decision-making process of The Middle East Council of Churches designed to be sensitive to the various church traditions represented.
The Middle East Council of Churches, through its General Secretariat is involved in `relief` efforts. Besides fulfilling humanitarian objectives, it is the goal of The Middle East Council of Churches to promote Christian unity and also Christian influence in the regiion. They are involved in research and inter-religious dialog. They encourage relations between Christian groups in the Middle East and those in other parts of the World.
